Spencer Boyd to be ‘Celebrity Judge’ at Guns ‘N Hoses

St. Louis, MO (November 10, 2016) The BackStoppers is proud to announce they have joined forces with hometown (Creve Coeur) NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Driver Spencer Boyd. Boyd’s first duty as ambassador will be to judge a match at the 30th annual Budweiser Guns ‘N Hoses boxing event Wednesday, Nov. 23, at the Scottrade Center.

“We are delighted to welcome Spencer to our family,” said Chief Ron Battelle, executive director of The BackStoppers. “When he reached out to us wondering how he could help with our mission, the Guns ‘N Hoses event came to mind. Things can happen quickly in the boxing ring so asking a guy who drives 200 mph to judge the fast action in the ring is a fairly good match of skill sets.”

“The BackStoppers is an organization that I personally believe makes a difference in people’s lives,” said Boyd. “They support first responders, a group of selfless individuals that I hold in the highest regard. Too often we forget about these everyday heroes so I wanted to do my part in recognizing them.” Boyd also noted he is looking forward to being a boxing judge at Guns ‘N Hoses. “This is one heck of a first assignment. I’ve been watching Rocky movies to prepare myself!”

Guns ‘N Hoses will feature 15 three-round bouts of boxing and mixed martial arts (MMA) matches between police officers, firefighters and emergency medical personnel from Missouri and Illinois. Both male and female fighters are scheduled. Guns ‘N Hoses will also include a new opening ceremony this year before the opening bell.
